About
I believe there are many qualities that constitute any great surgeon, but for me these qualities help to achieve one ultimate goal. An optimal outcome means my patient is not only cured, but also ready to live a long and happy life. I strive to achieve this outcome through a combination of technical and artistic ability, practical judgment, whole body care and passion. Being part of the breast cancer cure and helping my patients live normal lives during their treatment and beyond is the reason I do what I do.
My technical and artistic abilities allow me to reshape the breast to help prevent deformities after a lumpectomy or a partial mastectomy. I routinely perform oncoplastic breast surgery at the time of cancer lumpectomy. I also perform skin-sparing, nipple-sparing mastectomies, coordinating with plastic surgeons for immediate reconstruction, as well as sentinel node biopsy, high-risk screening, BRCA testing and genetic evaluation.
Striving to be at the forefront of breast cancer care, I offer I125 breast seed localization, which minimizes discomfort and infection risk and increases accuracy of targeting small cancers during surgery, when otherwise too small to detect. I have also integrated another advancement in breast cancer therapy that helps define whether or not there are cancer cells on the margins during surgery.
Beyond surgery, I provide support to alleviate the fear of cancer and help patients live a fulfilled life during and after treatment. I educate my patients on whole body care, including diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications. I aim to empower them to take charge of their own health after breast cancer.
