About
Helping people has always been my passion. I strive hard to listen, which seems to be a lost art. I encourage my patients to tell their story. As a consultant, it's my goal to partner with primary care providers and patients, to present relevant, up-to-date information, and help patients make informed choices about THEIR healthcare. I'm a strong patient advocate. I'm direct and honest. I encourage and teach my patients to advocate for themselves.
I have a diverse background and started my professional journey in the army, where I served as a combat medic. I was the first female to complete the GI fellowship in my program. I had the privilege of studying liver disease in London at the Royal Free Hospital, under the tutelage of Professor Dame Shelia Sherlock.
I've designed educational programs for medical students, and I've served as program director for a large internal medicine residency program. I value education and love to teach and learn. I’ve worked administratively in several quality/performance initiatives, which have all been patient-safety centered. I’ve completed fellowships in patient safety and health policy and earned an MBA in healthcare management.
I truly believe a speak-out culture helps build a safer culture, with improved outcomes and higher quality. I empower all those I work with and serve to find and use their voice. Trust is earned, never given. I hope to earn yours.
