About
Education
- Master of Science in nursing with family nurse practitioner specialization: South University, Columbia, SC
- Bachelor of Science in nursing: South University, Columbia, SC
I developed a love for gastroenterology when I was studying to become a nurse practitioner. I really enjoy working with people who need help to improve their quality of life – seeing their faces light up when they realize their problem is fixable is hugely rewarding for me.
I specialize in GI office procedures involving the stomach, esophagus, small bowel, colon, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. I also counsel patients regarding important lifestyle habits to keep their digestive systems running smoothly.
My practice philosophy revolves around listening to the patient. I’m straight to the point, but also inquisitive. For example, if a clinical test comes back normal but the patient is still having issues, I ask questions to figure out why. To develop a proper diagnosis and treatment plan, I look at the whole picture of the patient’s daily life – how, what, and when are they eating? Are they sleeping well and getting enough activity? What medications are they taking? Once I know the answers, the patient and I work together to move forward.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy working out; hiking with my dog; and paddle boarding.
