He completed his general surgery residency at Lenox Hospital in New York City, while also spending six months at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan learning laparoscopic bariatric surgery under the guidance of some of the pioneers in this field. Following his residency, he returned to Toronto, Canada, for a two year fellowship in minimally invasive general surgery. He also spent two months at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center refining his laparoscopic bariatric surgery skills. In 2003 when he completed his training, he began practicing at Northwest Medical Center.
Dr. Burpee has a special interest in diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract and surgical management of morbid obesity. He has significant experience in the laparoscopic management of hernia, gallbladder and colorectal disease.
